The Planning Division, Office of the President, was established according to the Announcement of the Ministry of University Affairs that was signed on the 28 April 1982, in the Royal Gazette, Volume 99, Chapter 64, on the date of 4 May 1982, according to the higher education development plan Phase 5 (1982 - 1986) from the results of the improvement of government agencies within the Office of the President and Admissions and Records Office. From (1) the obligations and manpower of the Institute Research Department and Design Section, Building and Physical Plant Department, Service and (2) Development Planning Division (Building and Physical Plant Division) combined with the Research and Statistics Department, The Admissions and Records Office was established with the division name “Planning Division”, including 6 subdivisions which are General Services Subdivision, Institutional Research Subdivision, Subdivision for Planning Analysis and Coordination, Subdivision for Infrastructure, International Relations Subdivision, and Academic Services Subdivision.

               Later in 1991, a conference was in order to improve the organization in the Office of the President according to Higher Education Development Plan Phase 6 (1987 – 1991). The Academic Services Subdivision was expanded and established as the Academic Services Division. Planning Division; therefore, it has 5 Subdivision -- General Services Subdivision, Institutional Research Subdivision, Subdivision for Planning Analysis and Coordination, Subdivision for Infrastructure, and International Relations Subdivision, as the Civil Service Commission has approved. Currently, The Planning Division is affiliated with the Office of the President, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Higher Education dated 1 August 1991, published in the Royal Gazette, Volume No. 108, Chapter 145, on the date of 20 August 1991, and is situated on the 6^th floor of the Academic Services and Administration Building.
